Crazy weekend in the ACC, where North Carolina now stands at 0-2 and in last place in the conference.  Just as we touted bubblers like Boston College and Maryland as strong contenders, BC gets manhandled by Harvard and loses to Miami in Chestnut Hill while Maryland loses to Morgan State and needs 29 turnovers to beat ACC bottom-feeders Georgia Tech in College Park.  Let's also add that we did not have Arizona going to the NFC Championship game.  Lucky for us, we dont gamble on sports anymore (well, not often).  The BC and Maryland losses are unfortunate "tiebreaking" losses that could cost them dearly.  When Team A and Team B are nearly identical, you can't help but punish Team B for losing to a lower-tier MEAC school.

The ACC door is now wide open for teams 5 and 6 to step up, with resurgent Miami taking the lead.  The ACC deserves five or six bids (as they did last year) but someone outside of the Big Four (UNC, Duke, Clemson, Wake) has to step up and make a statement in the league for it to happen.  The league looks worse when the committee only counts wins against Duke and UNC as "quality".
