The Gavinski Award is a weekly award given to the team with the worst performance in college basketball over the past seven days. It is presented in honor of J.P. Gavinski, the most useless player in Division 1 basketball.
Oregon State
Picked fifth in many preseason Pac-10 Polls, the Beavers opened the season with a ginormous home bed-pooping to the Islanders of Texas A&M-Corpus Christie, losing 67-43. Oregon State shot 13-41 from the field and had 25 turnovers to contribute to the debacle. How bad was the loss? TAMCC was beaten later in the week by provisional D1 member South Dakota, probably the 220th best team in the country. It may take five quality wins to offset this stinkbomb, as the Beavers are now faced with a potential NCAA Tournament dealbreaker. If it comes down to Oregon State vs. Team A Without a 24 Point Loss to a Bad Southlands Team, consider them screwed.
