The Gavinski Award is a weekly award given to the team with the worst performance in college basketball over the past seven days. It is presented in honor of J.P. Gavinski, the most useless player in Division 1 basketball.
UNC-Asheville
The second Gavinski award of the year goes to UNC-Asheville in a landslide, as the Bulldogs were thumped by 75 at Tennessee last Monday 124-49. In a game as lopsided as any ever put up on Tecmo NBA Basketball, UNCA missed their first 19 shots and shot 7.7% in the first half. Their terrible offense was actually outdone by their terrible defense, as they surrendered 66 first half points to trail 66-14 at halftime. In perhaps the quote of the year, Bulldog coach Eddie Biedenbach said of the debacle "We want to come in here and make them play, make them learn, make them a better basketball team. We didn't do that. All we did was give them some exercise.”
