The most remarkable thing about this young season is that the ACC is wide open.  With UNC taking two national titles this decade and Duke being Duke, it’s hard to remember a time when you couldn’t pick out the elite teams in the conference.  North Carolina has two losses, Duke has been knocked off by a middle of the road Big Ten school and Maryland has lost all three of its toughest games this year - and these were the league favorites.  What this means to the rest of the ACC is that every team in the conference is beatable, no matter where the game is played.  Right now, with the exception of maybe Virginia, nobody has embarrassed themselves in the nonconference and every team is right in the mix for an NCAA berth going into league play. Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech and NC State are 6-1, while Florida State and Clemson are 7-2.   For these teams, they can honestly look at their ACC schedule and not chalk any game up as a loss.  There will be some reordering once conference games start, but with decent non-conference profiles in their back pockets, the opportunity is there for almost every team in the conference to grab the necessary eight or nine ACC wins for an at-large bid.
