William & Mary

After an impressive nonconference performance that caught national attention, you could almost predict a letdown for the Tribe heading into the "soft" part of the CAA schedule - but a home loss to UNC Wilmington?  Although one loss will not undo the great work against VCU, Maryland, Wake Forest and Richmond, the Tribe would well advised to avoid many more home CAA losses to non-contenders.  The loss sent William & Mary’s RPI tumbling from the top-5 down into the late teens, illustrating how damaging these kind of losses are.  The game should also serve as a warning – even though they have been running their pseudo-Princeton offense to perfection recently, there is still a small margin for error and bad nights like this could lead to some surprising losses.  The selection committee is never forgiving to mid-majors if they don’t get the automatic bid, so its best for the Tribe to take care of business in the CAA and finish at least 13-5 in conference.  Consider this a preemptive Gavinski – stay sharp, William & Mary.
