Our opinion of Georgetown basketball under the direction of John Thompson III still stands.  They are a very, very good team that is somehow capable of some very, very, strange results.  Once again (much like last year and in 08-09), college basketball pundits were fooled.  Georgetown ripped through an extremely difficult non-conference schedule, settled into the top-10 of both the RPI and national rankings.

And then things fell apart.  With last night's home bed-pooping against Pitt, the Hoyas are now 1-4 in Big East play.  I understand that they have played an incredibly hard schedule in the league, but come on - if they're so good, why are they 1 and freaking 4 in the conference?  Now they are facing two potential road trap games at Rutgers and Seton Hall.  The Selection Committee has said over and over that conference record is not taken into consideration during the process (see Tech, Virginia) but there has to be a line somewhere, right?  6-12? 7-11?  It probably won't be that bad, but you know if the Hoyas get another 3-seed with eight league losses, don't let yourself buy into them.

Never. Trust. Georgetown.
