- Notre Dame continued its march towards a bid by beating Rutgers. I keep reading about their "string" of bad nonconference losses, but I don't really see what the big fuss is. Georgia, maybe, is a bad one. Maybe Maryland, but they are decent. The rest? Gonzaga, Missouri, and Indiana. If you consider those bad losses, you deserve to get your balls chopped off.
- Northwestern fell short at Indiana and Miami fell at home to North Carolina. Miami is still alive and kicking, but Northwestern is running out of chances and stands just 5-8 in conference.
- Gigantic win for New Mexico at San Diego State. The Lobos could very well be headed for the NCAA's, although they have a tough stretch coming up. They are a near-lock as it stands now, and only a total collapse keeps them from Dancing.
- Dayton, UConn, Davidson and South Florida - who, despite a 9-4 Big East record is only a blip on the at-large radar - survived must-win games.
- Wyoming (home loss to Air Force) and Colorado State (loss at Boise State)? Yikes. Off the bubble for now, but Colorado State is treading water because of the stupid RPI.
- And finally, the biggest Bubble win of the night belonged to Purdue, who won at Illinois. Purdue should jump into the top-50 and now own important sweeps of both Northwestern and Illinois and are two games clear of both in the conference standings. They beat Miami, Temple and Iona nonconference, and can practically wrap up a bid if they finish 9-9 in conference and win one of their remaining games vs. Michigan State, at Michigan or at Indiana. Meanwhile, Illinois is 5-8 in conference and still has games with Ohio State, Michigan and Wisconsin left to deal with. Its go time for the Illini.
